Dr. Abend was born in Lutsk, Ukraine in a family of physicians and began her medical education in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1990. She attended St. Petersburg’s First Medical Institute until 1992 when her family moved to the United States. In 1997 Dr. Abend graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hunter College of City University of New York with a BA in Biology and proceeded to pursue her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from New York University College of Dentistry, and graduated Summa Cum Laude, in 2002. At New York University, she was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society.
After completing his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in Stony Brook, New York, Dr. Goldstein earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the same institution. He then completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York City. Following his residency, he opened his practice dedicated to oral surgery in the Bayside area of Queens, where he was born and raised. He is one of the few board-certified oral surgeons in Queens.
